Yes, you absolutely can clear places that you are paying to stay in, even if you're just renting the place for a night or two!
It's actually a great practice to clear hotel rooms and AirBnB's. You would proceed with the clearing as you would for any other property. However, when you do the clearing, you do it with the intent that it be effective until you relinquish energetic ownership of the property. Your "ownership" is, after all, temporary.
You don't need such a specification if you're renting an apartment and aren't sure if / when you'll be moving out.
Please note that you can ONLY clear the property that is "yours" i.e. the hotel room but not the entire property etc.
